Technique #8

Relaxing Breath

Method:

- Lie on a mat, facing up.

- Your head, neck, spine and legs should be aligned in a straight line. Your heels should be touching each other.

- Place your hands at your side palms facing down.

- Now slowly start breathing. See to it that the breath is so slow and steady that it does not make any sound.

- After you have taken a few breaths, practice equal breathing. (Equal breathing is when the duration for inhaling, holding the breath in and exhaling is the same.)

- If you inhale for 10 seconds, hold the breath in for 10 seconds and exhale in 10 seconds, all without making any gushing sound.

- Remain in this position for 3-4 min., but if you find it particularly relaxing, you can practice it for as long as you want.
